"Moyo" means Life or Soulin Swahili. Indeed the word is meant to describe the joy and the rhythm of life itself in Swahilian culture, a vibrant mystical place. Our mdundo drum sounds are designed to be deeply healing and enchanting to the soul.
Bring home the joy and rhythm of life itself.
Why choose our Moyo handpan ?
Scales Available:
The scale the world fell in love with.
The scale that speaks to you like a calm melancholy forest.
Our Moyo handpan minor scales can feel intense, mysterious and relaxing. The full moon at D kurd is our most popular drum. It can feel mystical, intense and even suspenseful depending on how it is played. The mystic Moyominor scales are usually the most popular requests. These scales tend to have a good amount of mystery but also offer some positive resolve. They can be refelctive, relaxing and also driving and intense.
There’s a reason the D Kurd is the most played handpan scale on Earth. Nine hand-tuned notes in D minor create a sound that feels like exhaling after a long day — deep, warm, and impossibly soothing. Every note flows into the next, so even if you’ve never touched an instrument, your first five minutes will sound like a meditation soundtrack.
You’ll love this if: you want to slow a racing mind, score your yoga or breathwork practice, or finally own the sound you’ve heard in every viral handpan video.
Ancient desert sounds. Intense Middle-eastern tones. Feels Mystical Intense.
One note changes everything. The Hijaz scale carries the haunting, hypnotic character of Middle Eastern music — the sound of incense smoke, desert night skies, and old-world mysticism. Where most handpans soothe, the Mirage transports. Play one phrase and the room changes.
You’ll love this if: you want a handpan that stops people mid-sentence, you create content or perform, or minor scales feel too familiar and you want something with real character.
The happy one. Feels Uplifting, Bright
Most handpans are moody. The Sabye — from the Thai word sabai, “to feel at ease” — is pure light. Tuned to a bright major scale, every strike rings out warm and optimistic, like the first sun through the window. If the Moonstone is for unwinding at night, the Sunrise is for starting the day open-hearted.
You’ll love this if: you want uplifting over melancholy, you play for kids, morning rituals, or gratitude practice, or you’re buying a gift and want the sound that makes people smile.
Why are hand instruments priced higher?
The moyo drum is an expertly crafted hand pan instrument. It is difficult to buy a handpan because they are hand-hammered and intricately tuned and cannot be mass produced. Plus, very few people have mastered the skills necessary to make a quality or a top shelf handpan that is uniquely tuned.
