Product Description: The gold singing bowls at 6 Lynx are hand hammered locally in Nepal. Crafted traditionally with 7 metals, these bowls are consistent and very easy to use and offer beautiful frequencies when played in rotation and struck. Every bowl is embellished with a amazing gold color. Because of the hand hammering process and design the bowls will produce a more ambient sound but is slightly pricier than our other Tibetan singing bowls. These gold bowls will take more practice to play.

Each bowl is individually checked for standard and predominant note range consistent with rotational use. Bowls include a hammer as pictured.

Tibetan Singing Bowls have been used by Buddhist Monks for approximately 2,500 years to stimulate and modulate brainwaves for healing and meditation purposes.

There are real reasons singing bowls have been used for centuries. The bowls create a range of sounds that restore the normal vibratory frequencies of diseased and out-of-harmony parts of the mind and body. Their whole purpose is to restore vibratory frequencies of the body, mind, and soul that are out-of-harmony and diseased. Vibrations from Tibetan singing bowls cause the body to resonate it's own and also produce the binaural alpha waves that are present in the brain in deep relaxation helpful for meditation. The sounds they emit work as a type of energy medicine that has been known to heal pain, balance chakras, depression, and stress disorders (see more below).

HOW TO PLAY A SINGING BOWL?

This is a brief description of the playing technique called "Around the rim" technique.

    1. Place your singing bowl on the palm of your hand.
    2. With the tips of the fingers of your other hand pointing down, grasp the mallet.
    3. Apply even pressure, while rubbing the mallet in a clockwise or anticlockwise (traditionally non-Buddhist) direction on the rim. You should always use the outside edge of the rim.
    4. Don't use just your wrist, let your entire right arm move around the rim.
    5. Now you should hear a sound. If it sounds odd or out of phase, change the speed. Speed up or slow down to let the sound form slowly and naturally.

Tibetan Bowls for Meditation, Sound Healing and Beyond:

While the phrase “Tibetan singing bowl” might be a modern construction the blending of sound and practice in Tibet goes back further even than the introduction of Buddhism 1300 years ago.  What is the basis of this practice with sound? Humans’ first experience is vibration, which is a window into the potency of sound healing using Tibetan singing bowls.

Singing bowls also called the healing bowls, can be traced back Asia as early as 2000 B.C. They are made of an alloy of seven different metals, connected to seven astrological planets, which create a range of different sounds and overtones. Those seven metals are gold as sun, Silver as Moon, Mercury as Mercury, Copper as Venus, Iron as Mars, Tin as Jupiter, and Lead as Saturn. Some singing bowls format, depth, color, girth, and composition are variable.

Singing bowls can be used as vessels to cook, as offering bowls, as beat instruments, and for meditation or relaxation. Bowls have a double effect, with sound and vibration.

Science has confirmed that music, as an organized form of sounds can directly affect mood, brain waves, the nervous system and the body chemistry. Music plays a key role in the religious and spirituals of many cultures. Musical vibrations is still applied to aid digestion, induce sleep and treat mental disturbances.

The vibration of the singing bowls stimulate the body to recreate its own harmonic frequency and help produce the alpha waves that are present in the brain in deep relaxation. Singing bowls of all sizes are said to clean the atmosphere around as of negative energy and emotional blockages.

Many people feel that they are touched and cleaned in their soul when they listen to the sound of the singing bowls. As some people describe it “time stands still”¬ a feeling of peace, relief in aching parts of the body, or contact with something beyond daily life.

Tibetan Lamas have used singing bowls in secret rituals. They have traveled out of the body through the power of sound. If you find out a real (original) singing bowls, you can use singing bowls instead of a cup of coffee to help you digest Lunch, to help you sleep and to help you to recover from illness. Tibetan bowls are of Nepalese origin and are used by Newari people during their ritual fire ceremony. There is a link between bowls and the Ayurvedic approach of musical therapy and Ayurvedic medical care. In this bowl, pregnant women eat dishes in Nepal. In this context, bowls should be used to restore the loss of minerals and metal (Iron).

Tibet's history with the singing bowl includes Bon tradition as well as all the schools of Tibetan Buddhism where bells, horns and gongs are used in ceremony.  One early visitor to Tibet reported witnessing a ceremony in which a thousand monks each made a sound with their own bowl.

“If we accept that sound is vibration and we know that vibration touches every part of our physical being, then we understand that sound is heard not only through our ears but through every cell in our bodies. One reason sound heals on a physical level is because it so deeply touches and transforms us on the emotional and spiritual planes. Sound can redress imbalances on every level of physiologic functioning and can play a positive role in the treatment of virtually any medical disorder.”
